Women & Re-Entry – CPMC May Webinar

May 12, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Formerly incarcerated women face unique obstacles during re-entry. Join us for a conversation with Sr. Maureen O’Connell, OP as she shares her work as founder of Angela House – a re-entry ministry for women affected by incarceration – and Sarah Maybry a case manager at Angela House.

Maureen O’Connell, OP, founded Angela House in 2001 to serve women coming out of incarceration. Her wide range of experiences prepared her to create this successful ministry: 13 years as a Chicago police officer and police chaplain; 16 years as Clinical Services Coordinator at The Children’s Assessment Center in Houston and Victim’s Assistance Coordinator for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston; more than 40 years as a Dominican Sister, a religious order known for its commitment to social justice.

Sarah Maybry is a Case Manager at Angela House. As a registered Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor-Intern, as well as a Certified Prevention Specialist, she encourages sobriety and recovery as the base of any built plan of success. Sarah helps our residents develop independent living skills, provides support in their sobriety and recovery and guidance with resources available to them. She is very active in the Houston recovery community.
