Partners in Pastoral Care

Since 2016, the NACC along with several other Catholic Ministry Associations and (arch)diocesan representatives have partnered to create national competencies and formation resources for pastoral care ministers who provide spiritual, emotional and sacramental support to the most vulnerable in diverse settings (homes, senior residences, correctional/prisons, health care and others).

A draft of the national competencies were shared with the USCCB Subcommittee on Certification of Ecclesial Ministry and Service (SCEMS) These competencies and the efforts of the Partners in Pastoral Care have been enthusiastically supported. We will continue to report
our program development to the SCEMS.

Below are resources for archdiocese, diocese, diaconal formation and ministry leaders.

I Was Sick and You Visited Me: A Spiritual Guide for Catholics in Hospital Ministry

The NACC is grateful to Mr. Fernando Poyatos for allowing us to make available to our members a copy of his book, I was Sick and You Visited Me: A Spiritual Guide for Catholics in Hospital Ministry. It provides good wisdom for a foundational preparation for this pastoral care ministry.

Pastoral de la Salud: Guia Espiritual Y Practica

The NACC is again very grateful to Mr. Fernando Poyatos for allowing us to make available to our members a copy of his most recent book in Spanish, Pastoral de la Salud: Guia Espiritual Y Practica.
