The bereavement needs of widowed parents have often been ignored. Widows and widowers, especially those who are younger, must cope with their own grief while also adapting to single parenthood, helping their children deal with the loss, figuring out a new future that does not include their spouse or partner and might also include the loss of community if the family has to move or change schools.
This program will discuss these challenges and offer ways to meet them, drawing on the most current research on widowed parents as well as Dr. Yopp’s experiences with running support groups for widowed parents.
