Program Information:
One of the new competencies for board certification is ITP6: Articulate how primary research and research literature inform the profession of chaplaincy and one’s spiritual care practice.
The morning session, Moving Forward with Chaplaincy Research Literacy, will provide:
- A presentation by our NACC member, Theresa Utschig, MAPS, BCC, of Froedtert, who participated in the recent Chaplaincy Research Summer Institute, July 24-28, 2017, at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois
The afternoon session, Recent Research that Strengthens the Value of Spiritual Care Services, will provide:
- A presentation by David Lichter, DMin, NACC Executive Director on the background in the development of the new competency, how APC/NACC/NAJC are looking to introduce and assess this competency, and what chaplains can do to meet this competency. The presentation will include examples of recent research on the importance of religion and spiritual care to patients and families, the impact of spiritual care on the patient experience, and the impact of chaplain care on patient outcomes, and how it might be used in one’s ministry settings.
