Program Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
• Learn about best practices chaplains are using in their institutions.
• Obtain a refresher of the new chaplain standards and competencies.
• Share our best practices with each other to enhance our ministry as chaplains.
Description:
• Presentation on ways to expand your chaplaincy services through volunteers and local clergy.
• Presentation on ways to create support groups for yourselves and others.
• Presentation on the new standards and competencies for chaplains with plenty of time to discuss and share ideas.
Presenter Information:
Sharon Douglas, BCC is currently working at CentraState Medical Center as the Director of Pastoral Care. Sharon has been a member of the NACC since 2008 and board certified since 2013. Sharon is also the NACC State Liaison for New Jersey.
Debra Sheridan, BCC is currently working as the Director of Mission for Bon Secours Charity Health System, a member of the Westchester Medical Health Network. Debra has been a member of NACC since 2009 and board certified since 2010.
Dr. Mary Teresa O’Neill BCC-S is the current Chair of the NACC Board. She is now retired from 30+ years as a CPE Supervisor in the NY area and an NACC Chaplain. She has worked on the Standards Committee and has been part of the development of the Competencies for Chaplains.

10:20 – 11:20 a.m.: Maximizing Volunteers and Clergy Partners (Sharon Douglas)
11:20 – 11: 30 a.m.: Break
11:30 – 12:30 a.m.: Peer Groups for Chaplains (Debra Sheridan)
12:30 – 1:30 p.m.: Lunch
1:30 – 2:30 p.m.: Standards and Competencies (Mary T. O’Neill)
2:30 – 2:40 p.m.: Break
2:40 – 3:45 p.m.: Resources for chaplains and break out session to discuss ideas and best practices, then share with larger group
4:00 p.m.: Mass in the Chapel
