Conference Theme
Making All Things New: Co-creation, Transformation, Resilience and Hope
As we gather together as a community of chaplains at our annual conference, we will hear the words in sacred scripture proclaim, “Behold, I make all things new!” May our hearts be inflamed by the words of St. Francis and Pope Francis, “Praise to you, my Lord!” as we recognize that we are co-creators, responsible passionate partners in the care of our common home and future.
Promoting evidence-based spiritual care outcomes is transforming healthcare chaplaincy. As we wade into the waters of research literacy, may our eyes be opened to better understand, summarize and explain research studies in light of our pastoral practice.
Every day Chaplains enter the world of personal and social crises. We seek to breathe with the breath of God as we explore spiritual well-being that leads to enhanced resilience for those we serve as well as for ourselves.
Our ministry takes place at the intersections of the secular and the sacred, the medical and the moral; may we deepen our theological understanding of what it means to be hopeful human beings able to make ethical, dignified choices in the midst of vulnerability, suffering and affliction.
Join us and your chaplain colleagues in Chicago as we engage these timely topics of Co-creation, Transformation, Resilience and Hope and explore new paths to Making All Things New!

Day of Reflection (conference retreat)
In the Making: A Spirituality of Creation, Call, and Engagement
Thursday, April 21, 2016
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Overview
“There are very few people who realize what God would make of them if they abandoned themselves into God’s hands, and let themselves be formed by God’s grace.” St. Ignatius of Loyola
It is a profound spiritual insight to realize that we are “in the making.” Every day and every moment invites us to engage in the dynamic process of becoming. Once we become aware that grace and divine love is the engine that is drawing us forward, we are freed to enter into a whole new level of participation and engagement. On this day of rest and reflection we will ponder the conference themes of co-creation, transformation, resilience and hope as they arise within us and send us forth with renewed energy and vision. Drawing on the wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Teilhard de Chardin SJ, Ilia Delio OSF, Judy Cannato and others, the day will include a series of short presentations, several guided meditations, time for quiet reflection and some opportunities for sharing. This day of retreat will offer a wonderful way to prepare your soul for the richness of the conference so that you may be inspired again to take up your call in the dance of God’s creation.
