Summary

Chaplains serve on the frontlines of care for those suffering with spiritual struggles and moral distress. In the last decade, there has been growing attention to the moral dimensions of trauma and growing scholarship and clinical engagement of moral injury and the role and responsibility of chaplains. This presentation will introduce conceptual understandings of moral injury and strengthen chaplain care practices in responding to those suffering with moral injury. The most effective chaplaincy is clinically informed and theologically-rooted, so this training will integrate interdisciplinary insights with relevant theological wisdom and sacred practices. Moral injury is found in many contexts including military service, healthcare institutions, and community settings so this training will explore how moral injury expresses in different circumstances and environments.

8.00 Continuing Education Hours have been granted by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains.
