Downloading documents from the website

The NACC website serves a lot of documents created using Microsoft Office software. We understand that not everyone has (or can afford) this software. To aid in downloading and viewing files from our site, please use Adobe Reader and/or Microsoft's free file viewers:

Word Viewer (For .doc and .docx files)       Excel Viewer (For .xls and .xlsx files)

Adobe Reader (For .pdf files)       PowerPoint Viewer 2003 Click here to get PowerPoint Viewer.(for .ppt files)

PDF files can prove especially vexing as they tend to behave differently in different browsers (and different configurations of the same browser). Also, large PDFs can lock up a web browser and result in a crash. To work around these problems, it may be best to right-click on the link to a .pdf file and select "Save Link As" (in Firefox) or "Save Target As" (in Internet Explorer)*, then save the file to your computer. Then open it directly from the saved file. Those using Firefox are strongly advised to install the "PDF Download" add-on which will allow you total control of PDF behavior in your browser.

* If using Safari on a Mac, hold down the Option key and then click the link.
