In 2005, the required hours for renewal of certification was increased from 30 to 50. How should I divide the 50 hours over the 3 areas?
For those renewing in 2009, please do not report more than 230 hours of continuing education even if you have many more hours of educational activities. From 2004-2008, you must have a minimum of 10 hours in each of the three categories: Personal, Professional, and Theological. Depending on where your needs are and where you think you need more updating, you may divide the other hours based on your own judgment.
Beginning in 2009 and going forward, reporting of continuing education hours must be in the revised “Categories of Competencies”. You must have a minimum of 10 hours in each of the four categories: Theory of Pastoral Care, Identity and Conduct, Pastoral, and Professional. Depending on where your needs are and where you think you need more updating, you may divide the other 10 hours based on your own judgment.
